water
the elixir
of life
Known as the ‘elixir of life,’ water is essential for all living things and its relaxing, sensory properties have been incorporated into garden design for centuries in the forms of water features.
From the humble, still pond, to elaborate water-fall cascades, the trickle of water can be a welcome addition to any garden design and a focal point to draw the eye.
The majority of water features are self contained, meaning they store and cycle water without the need for mains water supply. If this is the case, it will be necessary to occasionally top up the water reservoir with a clean supply.
However, if the fountain is connected to the mains water supply, a shutoff valve must be installed so that the water supply can be turned off in winter months to prevent frozen pipes.
If the feature has moving water, it will either require an electric motor or be driven by a solar powered pump. We can incorporate the necessary electricity supply into your garden design if required or you can opt for a solar powered unit instead.
